The price has gone up lately.

Ya the price at the place I'm getting them at is going up to 18.95. I think that is still a pretty good price.

Montour..
One, it was my first year of college, didn't have time. I will admit I am a newbie when it comes to trapping. Numbers don't mean jack anyways.
Spend your $22-25 on a trap. I will go the other route and buy 5 #1.5 coils for that price.
I don't feed into hype.
Sorry.

While I tend to agree with you, I think you are overlooking one thing. The Grizz is a specific trap for specific animal to specifically avoid dogs. Now the #1.5 on the other hand is indiscriminate and will catch whatever happens to trip the pan. SO, for those wanting a species specific trap, and want to avoid canine and other non-target catches, maybe there is some amount of truth to the hype. Don't know. But I bought a couple to find out.

Well in my last post I said that there are places for them. I am talking about the guys that pretty much only use them and use them everywhere, whether there are dogs or not.
These guys give off the impression that if its not caught in a grizz then the coon just isn't worth the same.. know what I mean?
Then they make post like man those grizz catch every coon around, the coon just flock to these things, etc.. As I said its not the trap, its the trapper.
I imagine that younger kids getting on here are going to think that the only way to catch a coon is to use a grizz, or that they have to spend that much money to "roll with the big dogs."
When their best odds would to be to invest that money in more traps then blowing most of it on one trap.
Enough said!

The guys that knock Grizz are usally the ones who cannot afford them.

I think there's more to it than that. I can afford them, but want to try a couple first. May not make that big a difference in my area of trapping. We'll see.

You may think of it like that but the guys that don't use them maybe thinking about how big of an idiot you are for buying that expensive of a trap just to hold a coon.
You think you're the man because you can run $20+ traps or thats the way it seems to me.
Do buying grizz traps make you feel macho? Are you one of those types that feel they need to impress people with your expensive toys because you feel insecure? Maybe lacking somewhere.. if you know what I mean?

I have made my point and my opinion just because you don't like it doesn't mean you need to bash me. So don't try.

I run every style trap there is to catch coon as every location is different and requires different set ups. When you start catching more than one coon a season you will know what I am talking about.Back to your post above.
You may think of it like that but the guys that don't use them maybe thinking about how big of an idiot you are for buying that expensive of a trap just to hold a coon.

I guess if buying grizz makes me an idiot then so be it.The Grizz gets me into alot farmsteads that would never allow coils, conis,or snares due to pets.

You think you're the man because you can run $20+ traps or thats the way it seems to me.

I think I am the man that gets trap more places that otherwise would be off limits to trappers.

Do buying grizz traps make you feel macho? Are you one of those types that feel they need to impress people with your expensive toys because you feel insecure? Maybe lacking somewhere.. if you know what I mean?

The only one I am out to impress is myself. Why limit yourself to just certain kinds of traps because of price.I do not worry about price I know my investment will payoff overtime. As far as being insecure and lacking somehere you best take a look in the mirror.

I was just voicing my opinion on the grizz then you bash me about how many coon I caught last season. I have caught more than one coon in a season. You said LAST SEASON, as I said college got in the way and I trapped for about 2 days and found out it wasn't going to work out. I am man enough to say that I haven't caught loads of animals but I am just starting out.

Once again numbers don't mean anything there are to many variables that influence that. Number of traps, hours a day you can trap, amount of animals, etc..

I then repost again and you say that the people that don't run grizz traps can't afford them? Sounds pretty egotistical to me. Which made me come to the conclusion that you maybe insecure.

Nope I don't need to look in the mirror I already know I am not insecure or lacking anywhere because I don't bash the people that can't afford expensive traps, or feel the need to talk numbers. Even if I did catch a thousand coon a season I still wouldn't gloat.

You are the one bashing the grizz price. You are talking in circles. You need to keep your mouth shut and your ears open and you might learn something.

Public forum.. I am allowed voicing my opinions on a trap. When you "talk" you disregard the people that may not be able to pay the price of the grizz and that sickens me.

So Montour when did you become spokesperson for the grizz?

Yeah I am talking in circles.. around you and I could all night!
BUT.. I am not going to because I know just the kind of person you are and you're not worth the energy I put into typing these posts.
BTW your display picture suits you well. I applaud you on your pick!

I am out.

Yeah I will probably go to bed. Your foolishness has wore me out.

Great picture coonergreen, that is what it is all about! Sharing it with others.
