baseplate them make sure the chain has pleny swivels on them so it does not kink up and break

There's really no need to base plate all traps.I am not going to go and base plate my 11/2's I use for muskrat,mink and coon.

All base plating does is keep critters like wolverine and wolf from bending the trap frame and with a straight line pull it keeps the foot from sustaining damage by sliding back and forth in the jaws on fox, coyote and bigger animals.

i have lams, 4 coil, baseplate on my yote traps, but as pasadena stated, you do not NEED baseplates. a for coon fox mink, etc, my stock duke 1.5's are the bomb!!

you ever have anything destroy a duke 1.5? i have not and cauht multiple coon in each trap...smalles i caught was 10 pounds, largest 32.

they have been known to catch and hold...otter, yote, beaver, mink, coon, fox, mrats, bobcats, fishers, martens...etc

yep. after catching 5 yotes at 1 set, i found out it takes a tuff trap to do such..they had dug the ground down in that circle by 6 inches by the end of my 5th yote.

really, the 1.5 duke is the best mink and coon foothold on the market! until you try them and test them...then.

i know that the duke traps issue comes up alot but if you test all the traps i would bet dukes are just as strong if not stronger. my duke 1.75s 2 coil are stronger than some 4 coil models of other brands and my 1.5s are coon catchin machines
