i sealed hole around bathroom exhaust fan where going outside to siding with spray foam.where earlier was main yellowjacket port, and has been down in mid 20s a few nites, but yet yellow jackets are coming out walls in certain areas and like lites and widows, sun, have been swatting around 30 a day.does anyone know if they can survive 0 degree winter weather in house walls that is heated? turned the thermostat up,really brings them out, anyone can give me advice on fog or someother product that i could cut a small hole in drywall and get fog inside walls that would spread? dont know exact position of nests.i dont know if swatting 30 yellowjackets a day well reduce population or not

you'll have to check the label and the laws but dumping a full can of dairy bomb in the wall should do the trick...

Coonman Listen to the wall and locate bees drill small holes 3/16 in. and blow in PYGANIC or TEMPO dust with a bellows duster will do the trick

lesson learned. Next time don't close the hole.

that being said, the workers and this years queen should be dead by now or very soon. However you will have next years queens comming out until next April. Killing 30 a day will eventually lower the numbers. You are probably looking at around 500 or so.

Your problem will be gone by April....

most of yellow jackets swatted are very large and turning up the thermostatt really brings them out of walls to heat.had some trouble with furnace and called service man up, ordered a part, was not sure what wrong, yellowjacket activity not in basement or around furnace there, never seen none, there old entry point outside is aways from pvc chimmney pipe,i would not hardly think, but could the yellow jackets get inside furnace in blower motor, have not seen any in filter,i believe they are mostly in walls in bathroom area close to exhaust fan where there activity was for a few months, anyone know where to get a dairy bomb or tempo or pygenic dust and a blower? thanks a lot for all the advice

No, on both accounts. The queen dies after her last batch of eggs are completed. Those last eggs just happen to be all queens who do 'over-winter' and start everything over the next April. This is the same for both species...

Interestingly enough the Bald Faced Hornet is not a true hornet at all it is a species of yellow jacket... We just call it the Bald Faced Hornet... Cool huh?
