What does the cat have to loose at this point Tom, mabe it will be easy that cat is only searching for the reief that only death can bring now. If you really want too see how the cats education is coming along, if you catch it this time remove its claws with your pliars and return in six weeks and try to catch it again. Our fearless leader may even give you some kind of grant to have a look at your findings lol

Seriously? Well......... of course who would want to even try to catch that cat after that. But yes I am kidding. I have known Tom for years we were on the state trappers board together, that was mostly for his benifit but I couldnt figure out how to pm him, I can reply to them but am not very good at starting one. Give me a call some time and I will give you my honest oppinion about cats LT

Yeah, I've heard when wallets get so full of cash they tend to get round and can actually roll out the window, like your did.

I sent up a skunk job last night for a customer that had some bad grubbing damage. The damaged area of his lawn was right where it sloped down a bit to his neighbor's property line. The customer asked if I was going to put my traps right where the damage was to catch the skunks. I told him normally I would but , this area was in clear view from a good distance and anyone going by would see these traps right out on his front yard. I told him this could cause problems with nosy neighbors or worse , kids.
Instead of the exposed front yard location , I chose to put 2 traps right on the property line because there was a bit of a retaining wall made out of stone and evidence of burrows. This would give me a good location right near the den on the way to the damaged area. This was also back off the street a bit and tucked away in a bit of a cubby , Nice low key area out of sight. However , the best spot would be down the small retaining wall right near the hole to the burrow. This was technically 1 foot over onto the neighbors property. My customer went over to talk to his neighbor to get permission to place the traps on their side of the line. He comes back after talking to his elderly neighbor who had no problem with the traps and gave permission. I set the traps and go on my way.
My customer calls me this morning before leaving to work to report a skunk in one of the traps. I tell him I will out in a bit after finishing up a few things and I will pick up the skunk and leave him a fresh trap. About an hour or so later after finishing up and get a bunch more phone calls , I head out to his place. I get on the property , grab my skunk blanket and head over to check the traps.
I find 1 trap , empty , unfired. The other trap is missing , nowhere to be seen. The dig marks from the trapped skunk are right where the trap was placed , but no trap. I am like where is it ?
I go to my customer's front door and try the doorbell even though I am pretty sure he is at work. No answer. I walk back over to the trap and looked around a bit more for the missing trap.
Walking along I go past the neighbor's detached 2 car garage. There is a VW Vanwagon parked in front of the garage door with the engine running. I looked around a little bit for the neighbor to ask if they had seen my trap. I don't see anyone , but I figured they can't be far if the VW is running.
I am standing there looking around , looking , looking - nothing , no one around.
Then I noticed a piece of SS flex pipe slipped over the end of the VW's tailpipe and going into a large rectangular cardboard box big enough to hold a trap ................
I go over to the neighbor's house and knock on the door and a little old lady answers the door. I identify myself and explain why I am there trying to catch skunks for the neighbor ( my customer ). Then I ask the little old lady if she had seen my trap or the the skunk. She tells me to see her son by the garage. I go into the back and her son is right there parking a Buick. I go up to him and ask him if he has seen my trap. He tells me " I'm taking care of him for you " and points to the cardboard box with the exhaust hose.
I immediately inform him the using automoblie exhaust to put down an animal in the State of Connecticut is illegal. He said he really did not care about the law and thought he was just helping out his neighbor. The son had no idea that my customer had hired me or that people like me existed to remove animals for hire. I told him how modern car exhaust contains very little carbon monoxide and the animal would probably die of heat stress before CO poisoning. The I asked him how long the skunk was in the box. He replied " About an hour " . I open the box , the skunk was still quite alive.
I take the skunk and asked him to not interfere with any more of my traps , I would take care of everything. ( no thanks , I don't want your help )
I was completely civil during this whole ordeal. I should have gone up one side of this guy and down the other , but the only reason I did not was because he had no idea that his neighbor hired someone and he just thought he was being a good neighbor by helping.

You did absolutely the right thing Craig. The kid thought he was helping out the neighbor and intended no harm. You explained a couple of things he did not know; about you, about the law, and the best one, how to make an animal hot, not dead!

Had a fairly bad today. First job of the day I was in the customers back yard checking the traps on the gutters and in the front yard heard a loud bang went to look and found my trucks bed slide came unlocked and slammed all the way out and sent everything into the middle of the road. I was parked on a semi steep driveway and the bed slide holding pin (I guess its broken)didn't hold. Launched just about everything into the middle of the road 2 tool boxes two buckets full of mole and gopher traps several cage traps my dewalt mitre saw and open box of bird slide went sliding all the way to other side of road like dominos. One tool box was open and spilled out everything. But in the bottom there was a bunch of loose stuff seemed like a 1000 staples 10 razor blades and a bunch of screws. Best part was it was only about 30 seconds after I saw what happened the customer opened the garage door to leave! And I quicky picked up what I could and moved my truck and told cust to please go around my spill and she drove right thru all the staples and the razor blades go figure I stopped her and cleaned out her tire sheezzz! Then off to the hardware store to buy a large pickup magnet it worked great. Third job I was up 30 feet on a ladder and the pilleated wodpecker I have been trying to catch flew out the hole and hit me in the chest almost knocking me off the ladder I should have stayed home today.
