You can do without the heat, though a portable heater would be good when skinning and fleshing. Air movement is the key to getting your pelts dried and off the boards. You should be able to get an extension cord ran out to your building to run a fan, which will help more than the the heat. If not and you have the time and weather cooperation to do it, you can set your pelts outside on sunny days to let the wind dry your pelts.

My fur shed is an old drafty wood structure with no heat. I do have electric and use a heater while putting up fur but it only works to warm my hands by when they get cold. I do use a fan. Other than electric what I have is as primitive as it gets and it works for me. If it's all you have make it work and it will. Good luck trapper.

We use our garage. Seem to work just fine. We have a chest frezzer for the animals that we sell green and have racks for the mink and other animals that dont take to long to set up and dry. We havent quite learned how to flesh our catch yet except for mink.
