Right now we have enough to just cover the cost of the survey. If everyone is ok with it, I think it would be smart to continue raising funds in case there is a further step we want to take after this or maybe even another furbearer project. The state is pretty skimpy with furbearer research funding.

Open to all ideas.

how about a 50/50 raffle through ATA....they get 25%, the funding for the surveys gets 25%.

Hmmmmmm that math confuses me. Maybe that's why my electric bill is so high this summer.

Winner gets 50% and the ATA/Wolf Study get to split the other 50%.

I know, tough math for a builder..... smile

Lets keep raising money so we can put it towards future furbearer studies.

There appeared to be a question posed earlier about the USFS "buying our guy" for the Chugach Wolverine survey effort. Although I have done contract work (wolverine surveys)in the past (winter 2008/09)for the Forest Service, I do biological survey work with one over-riding thing in mind; that is "in the best interest of the resource". Secondarily, it should be noted that I am a trapper and will continue, to the best of my abilities, to further the interests of trappers, as long as it doesn't negatively affect furbearer resources.

I am sure that all of us are in agreement on that score Gulo. We pretty much had that discussion among ourselves at the outset. We appreciate you taking the time to get on here and share your perspectives and experience. Feel free to lead us in the paths of rightousness on this or any subject. smile

Thanks for the come-back White17. I certainly plan on, and look forward to, becoming more active in the various forums. Sorry it took me so long to "get with the program"...

Welcome Gulo!
I believe it was I that made a comment on the "other" entity recruiting a bio. I was referencing an article that was in a newspaper that mentioned The Department hiring an outside bio for possible wolverine studies that just happen to co-inside with our idea of doing same.
I found it kind of ironic that the timing was so coincidental. particularly since it was right after they put the closures in place citing Sinnott's data.
