Purina fish pellets work good in a pocket for coon. They smell fishy.

Corn works for muskrats but I have had problems catching ducks so that is a no go around here.

Melt a bag on marshmellows in a double boiler and add 1 16 ounce bottle of molassis and about 16 ounces of raisens. Let it cook for 15 or 20 minutes on a low temperature stirring to keep it mixed. Add an ounce of anise oil and pour into jars and allow to cool. I use this for ADC work where cats might be a concern and in the early trapping season. Works well in cages as well as hole sets. Works well right after being made and keeps on making catches the older it gets. Worm

There's a slaughter house near me. I go and get some beef kidneys that have been rejected by the inspectors. FREE!!! Cut them into about one inch pieces some I add sodium benzoate to right away others I let taint 2-3 days and add sodium benzoate. Last time I went I took too many kidneys. That was five yrs ago. Still got a couple gallons of each; smell the same today as they did when I put them up.

Lures I use Kishel's canines Crossbreed and Triple Dig-It. Coons Coon Digger II this one also catches a fair number of greyfox for me.

thanks for this one...I am always buying fishmeal at ungodly prices and forgot that fish food is many times made from fish..

I caught a couple mink on the trout pellets. Mink will go into an empty pocket so I don't know for sure if the pellets did the trick or not.

This might sound dumb but a chicken egg down the hole really works well. I put one egg down the hole and about a 1/4 ounce of beaten egg juice that I carry in a bottle for extra scent.

If it is an empty pocket would it be considered a blind set?

I was under the impression a blind set is where an animal is moving through swimming down a creek walking down a trail etc.

the grays here seem to like fish I don,t trap enough reds to say whether they like it or not

The biggest coyote I ever caught was in a dirt hole set with a rotten duck egg as bait.Just put it down the hole and broke it.That was the only coyote that set took but it proved to be a great possum set after that.lol
