Hard ones are the ones that teach us...easy ones you won't learn much from, other than the basics!

How about a long distance call?
I m working a place(inlaws) and they swear they have skunks! I have found no tracks, no scat, no marks of any kind! They have smelled them and the dog begs to go out around the same time or just before the skunk smell comes about.
I have had my traps out there now for about a week. Found a dead red squirrel in on of them one day.
Right now I have one trap out there. I have 3 others I can place before making a "hole set" in the woods with a conibear double coil spring.
I dont normally have issues with skunks but if there is one there he hasn't gone for my bait.
This is the season where they are fattening up so I need something that smells good enough for every skunk in the area to show.
They own over 100ac and closest nabors are across the street about 500+ yds in on one side and well over a mile in the other.
I am starting to think this skunk if he exists has been hit in the road or has moved on.
sense these are my inlaws (and boss for another job) I need this done over a week ago back on day one.
inlaws.....boss.....no pressure.....
Think my wood chuck bait will work?
I m going to pick up a elcheap'o can of catfood in the AM to try from reading some of these posts.
This skunk dosnt link peanut butter on top of the other essence oils I have tried as well as left overs and hotdogs.
HELP!

Setup a trail cam...Footholds and blindsets might be the way to go.....The skunk jobs I've setup a trail cam on showed the skunk was curious about the lures and bait but not enough to go in the cage trap...
...If your pressured and can use footholds I'd be setin every trail with several different baits and lures and blinds....
....Skunks are attracted to skunk essence so LDC may do you well...
......If its a transient it may very well be gone...Then again it may be lookin for a den site....
.........I've had no problem catching them in the fall on Hiawatha valley predator bait with just a bit on a stick in a hole under the cage trap and no eye appeal.....But found out the hard way once they got there mind set on somethin thats all they want....

I m going to have to give that a try, but they as well as my self think that guy kept trucking, or got hit on US. RT. 201.
What a wast of essence!
Where is a descent place to pick up some of that Hiawatha Valley predator bait, or find how to make it?
Thanks.
James

with pros and cons to truck advertising i went with Vinyl lettering. those magnetic ones can be lifted from some kids or antis or the wind if the surface is dirty. next year im getting a newer truck and getting a vinyl wrap with advertising and pictures.... its gonna be sweet but to the point... make me look even more professional.

Lettering on trucks is all about your area and the perception of your customers. My son said that lettering is the only way to go and got his van lettered. ( A very nice, conservative job, by the way)
I get ten times as many people telling me that they are pleased that my truck is unmarked. The few customers that my son did ask, said they didn't like it.
Did my son get customers from his lettering? You bet. And the customers that like unmarked trucks are twice as good of a customer!
