This is a a tremendous amount of useful information. I've been reading this thread start to finish while sitting in my blind & stand this gun season, great info. Probably why I didn't see any deer..

This was a good thread, and I believe there was a muskrat one to that was pretty good, and another great one that had quite a bit of opinions and knowledge going around was the great double longspring thread

Always simple and fast. Smear sets on bank walls are one of my favorite as it seems to always produce. Another one I really like to do is just a log in shallow water with fish oil on the old and a 1.5 on each side. Aside from leg holds, I use alot of dps. I prefer the z-traps because of the stabilizer. That being said, in late season, I can drill a 3/8 hole in deadwood, posts, trees, etc and put trap anywhere I need it. I have cable attached to my dps, that way I can anchor to trees, logs, posts, etc.

Where are you putting the 1.5s on each side of the log? Is it shallow enough where the traps are on the bank?

I would guess that DP traps are used far more for target 'raccoon only' trapping than other style of foot holds.

For me it pays to try to thin them out before trying to trap other things. This season will be coonmagedon again I'm sure. Here's one with three legs.

Old P-Skinny was really an interesting guy and quite a good trapper.
Blind setting with body grips has killed it's share of animals,
Shame he died so young.

Long live the 'Possum !

Curious to know what trappers in Iowa have sold raccoon pelts for this season.

We use to have a pretty good meat market here, but the newer generation doesn't seem to care for it that much.
