I have made a forum for y'all to make your posts so that you don't have to look all over the forums for your posts.

The new forum is here.... http://www.trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/15/page/1

Someone needs to tell Ken and Barb about it when they get back in the spring - lol. Oh heck, it'll be a surprise to him to find that he has to register all over again anyhow - lol.

What, Is everyone but me out checking their lines today? Did anyone save the last thread before we got our own forum? Son and I checked our sets on Saturday, no luck. We'll see what happens next checks before we pull out and find another location. What kind of range/territory do Marten have and how often are they visiting the same location? Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting my Marten catch to be in an area. (i.e. 2-3 marten per square mile). I read where some of you pull your lines when you start catching females.

My catch so far has yielded 1 male and 2 females, small line no more than 8 sets out.

I'd search the archives, but I suspect alot of this info may have been covered in our past threads, which I do not have.

Arctic Trapper, the big boys say male marten have a home range of about 2 square miles and the females half of that. Of course, there will be other marten around using the same area. Their ranges overlap quite a bit. If I set a fresh track today, I'll figure on taking a marten in two or three days. However, sometimes it'll take them a week or 10 days to get back; depends on what they may run into that will get them hung up somewhere. I very rarely leave a line in for more than 2 weeks, since I'll have all the marten I reasonably should take from the area in that time. Want to be sure and leave seed for next year. Good luck!

Takotna-

Geez you sure rake in the Martin! Nice darn wolverine too! I do well but I don't do as well as you seem to every year. I think you have the prime habitat or possibly a Martin factory nearby.. LOL

Nice pictures, Love to see younger folks out enjoy the outdoors and trapping!

GREAT catch, Takotna! Boy, you sure Scoop'em in! It tickles me to see your kids out there with you. You're passing on a priceless heritage to them. Brings back fond memories of when mine were that age and went everywhere with me.

Keep those pics coming: Love 'em!

Takotna and rick if you click on forums at the top you will see the Alaska wilderness forum. Click on that and Takotna be sure to post those photos over there also. Not sure if this short thread will get saved, but would love to have those photos saved over there.

I shoot them with a .22 or .38. No quoto here, I go for 150/year, depends on the effort, weather, breckdowns and such.
