Like Newt, I don't use swivels on my beaver snares. No use to have them for me. The beavers invariably tangle in the thick stuff I trap in.

I put my trap tags on my extension cable loop. I aways use an extension cable and use them over and over. I only use the snare once. So, there's no need to replace them until the extension cable gets messed up over time.

I touched on this topic some time ago with my opinion. I make both with and without. If I want a kill,I do not use swivels. I want them wrapped up tight. If I want them alive, I use an end swivel on rebar, no kill pole and set where their is no chance of entanglement. Exception on beaver snares where they are swiveled.
