I've posted this before, but since several new people have joined the forum, I thought it might help someone out. We all have had traps ran over before, it's just a given chance we take if we want to trap on the animals travelway. The first tire that runs over the trap usually mashes the petal down and holds the trap open until the weight of the tire is off, then the next tire flattens out the trap. the first picture is of one this happened to. I'll show what I did to correct it.

This picture shows the tools I used in the repair.

This picture shows removing the pins and springs.

Now take the jaws out of the frame and dismantle the rest of the trap.

Use the hammer to straighten the frame, and petal if needed.

I use channel locks and a fence tool to begin straightening the jaws.

Reassemble the trap.

I fine tune the jaws by using a hammer and pipe the same size as the jaws.

This is the finished product ready for the trapline again. I went ahead and laminated the jaws on this one. If one of the moderators would, please put this in the archives and I won't have to type it all out again. LOL
