But I love it my dad uses it some he dropped a deer with it a 350 yrds pretty good for a 12 gauge

My dads friends got something like that i dont know if i would ever want to hunt with it unless i was sittin in a big box tower blind. Isnt it SUPER heavy?

it is pretty big and heavy yes but takes deer down EASY lol

yes, had an 8ptr jump up in front of my buddy and he shot it and it dropped right there.

My son Taylor has hunted with a 243 sinse he was 12. He has killed over 20 with a 243 and it performed well. I personally have killed over 50 with 243 some at 400 yds. I recommend a 100 grain bullet or a bullet that will pass through. I have had 80 grain bullets and a couple 100 grain not pass through. I like the bullet to pass through for a blood trail. I grew up in Alabama with a one buck a day limit. The 243 is a good caliber in that it is not hard to find shells. I have several rifles in different calibers and the 243 is great.

A 243 was the first big rifle I had. Santa Claus gave it to me.

What bullets/shells yall use for deer hunting?

In my 30/30 I use 150 grain Rem Core-Lokts
In my 12 ga I use 2 3/4 winchester 1oz HP slug or 2 3/4 winchester #1 buck shot.

in my .243 i shoot 100 grain remington core-lokt

I switch between 3 guns. Savage model 111 in 25-06, i bought this gun i use 120gr core-lokts. Winchester model 100 in 308, i like to use it when bro doesnt hunt i use 150gr core-lokts. Winchester model 70 feather weight in 7mm-08, the best gun in the house. My dad uses it if he doesnt use his cannon 300 win mag, but im taking it elk hunting this year i use 140gr core-lokts. I want to get a revolver in 357 or 41, but my dad wont let me. I think it would be a lot more challenging and fun than a rifle.

243's are a good gun. I shot a 30-06 until this last year. Now i have a bolt 243, doubles as my windy day coyote gun. 80gr Rem coreloks. Only problem is that my soon to be wife used it this year, i did get to shot it couple times, here is her buck.



Wasn't the biggest ever, but she was happy, she was about to shot a doe, and after she grabbed the gun off of the hanger and looked back he was standing about 100yds. One shot, went about 50yds.

I use a 308 Savage bolt action or SKS. Unless im hunting a field and then i have a Ruger M77 in 25-06 that used to be a prarie dog gun. You can feel comfortable shooting something with it out to about a half mile.

same thing here ray no ohio people can use rifles so we feel left out when everyone talks about it lol i hunt deer mostly with my bow though anyway lol

i love my old marlin .30-30 but i recently got a remington .270 with a bushnell scope, i beleive 3x9. im perty confident shooting it,im not afraid to take shots at deer 300 yards out there. its a good gun and you really cant beat the balistics of a .270

i usually use my 243 but i lost a pin on my bolt so now it doesnt eject the shells so if i really wanted to use it i would have to bring a ramrod to get the shell out.... so i might have to use my dads 7mm 08

I have a rem. model 700 .243, a rem. 3600 30/06 pump and a winchester 1300 12ga. i got a carlson choke in it n it hits 100 percent at 60 yrds with a 3in mag 00 buck, in a 15 in circle.

All are scoped. The .450 and the .480 SRH have quick detachable mounts and the 760 has tunnel mounts. Some of these may be a bit "over-gunned" for deer, but as Uncle Ted says, "If you're going to shoot something- don't be afraid to hurt it."

BTW My bow is an XI Impulse at 74lbs.

I use the Remington model 700 300 win mag with a leupold 4.5-14-50mm there isnt a better gun for hunting whitetail. First of all you dont lose deer it just doesnt happen. Im not sure how all of you who shoot 243 like sure they dont kick at all but my gun gets the jod done and when im buck hunting who cares if you mess up the meat thats why you shoot does they taste better anyways and if you dont wanna mess up meat shootem in the heat. Also it has an icredible range at 400 yards i put the crosshairs right on there backs at 500 just alittle over. Its a great gun and i love the fact that i dont lose anymore deer and that i dont have to track them anymore.

which ever one i see first, i have .223 up to 30-06, although 7mm is my limit on deer, 30-06 blows to much of a hole.
