Hey guys,
last year, my urine i kept turned bad and smelled like ammonia. I think this kept me from attracting as many fox. I have a brand new bottle i didnt get to use this season. I would like to keep it for next year, but im not sure how to preserve it until then without it going bad. How do you guys store yours without it going bad?

You can store it in a glass container in a cool dark area or freeze it.I personally don't use urine any more, but i do have some stored in the basement it has been there for a few years and still smells foxey.

Here is a link that touches on the subject:

Though not addressed in this thread, I recall Bob Jameson recommending, if needed, adding glycerine to urine, NOT glycol.

Camera Gear: Canon EOS 7D-MK-II, Canon EF-S 10-22mm, EF 28-135mm, EF 100-400mm and EF 400mm lenses.

Good meat fed winter collected fox urine dosen't go bad.If you open the top for a few minutes does it still smell like amonia? The amonia semll disapates rather quickly after being applied for awhile.Don't belive me try this putsome on a pice of cardboard come back in an hour and smell it. You can store in amber bottles and probably keeping it out of direct sunlight would be good practice's. If its good urine to begin with no worries. The trouble is most supply dealers sell stuff that doesn't even smell like fox pee. Color should be dark to black but it still has to be collected right and few poeple do that. IMHO

Bill is right......urine that's good won't go bad in the first place.Improperly collected urine that has feed in it etc.will.It's the feed particles in there that will turn sour.

Personally I'd rather have urine that's 2-5 years old as fresh stuff.

I've had very good luck with the red fox urine I've got from Sterling Fur company.I don't know who his supplier is....but it's good stuff and VERY strong.

Its best to buy your urine from somebody who collects it right if you can then you know. Baring that the other alternative would be to buy it from a Dealer you trust .There are only two poeple who collect urine for trapping and do it right not to say there aren't more but these guys collect it right Bob Wendt and Tim Rose .
