If avoiding otter in summer, using a snare at crawl over's is the ticket, place the lock at the 3 or 9 oclock position and otter can pass through loop without becoming caught as it takes more resistance to get the loop to drop than if it was in the 12 oclock position.

Hey Jackie, why don't you get all the informative pics that your posting and place them in the archives. Maybe Paul will let you have a link to a section on Set Construction. I don't see why not if Buzz's is back cookin.

Very nice pics guys. I'm liking this snaring beaver. Heck of alot less weight to tote in.

"Offsetting" the lock to a 3 or 9 O'Clock is a good start, but for me, in practice, it was not the complete answer. I have begun putting limit stops inside the loop, to limit closing to an appx. 6" loop. Otter can escape from this loop w/o damage, and it will hold most body snared beaver.
Adios,
45/70,

WHY DO YOU SOUTHERN BOYS HAVE ALL THE BEAVER????

Some yahoo at the game dept. felt we needed them in the late 40's early 50's and relocated them here! Before then, no one around here had a clue what a beaver was.
