Will you guys typically catch more than one mole per main tunnel? I am just removing some for myself with one trap. I caught one this weekend and moved the trap to a new area... but i think the tunnel i caught that one in was a main tunnel.

It went from the yard where it looked like they were feeding to the mulched flower bed where they were feeding. If i had to gues, i would guess that i have 5-10 moles in this area, based upon how tore up it is..

Andy, my house is backed up to woods so we get a steady flow of moles in May and June each year. I try to catch them in the woods before they get to my lawn.

This year I have trapped 18 moles during those two months on my property and the next door neighbor and well over half of them have been trapped out of only three holes (dug in main tunnels).

Thanks KJ! I saw last evening that they had used this tunnel again and reset it. I had a snapped trap when i checked it at noon today. I am using the vistor guillotine (spear) type trap and i think i compressed the tunnel to far, causing it to trip before the mole was in the kill zone.

My wife says at least this trapping is a little closer to home!

always dry fire the spear types in the hole a few times before setting for keeps, it speeds them up and ensures of no obstructions.

Thank you, it seemed like it fired all the way, but that is an excellent idea! I never even thought about that.

I always use a dandelion digging tool to run down the legs of each spear after pushing the plate into the soil prior to setting the trap for action. This makes each pilot hole larger then needed and prevents collapse of the dirt into the pilot holes so when the mole activates the trap it fires unobstructed.I show this technique in my mole trapping manual.

I have taken 10 in my yard this summer. I took #10 today in an E-Z set mole trap. He kept digging under the OOS trap and the Albano traps. I set the E-Z and caught him in short order.

As of today, #11 is no longer with us. The E-Z struck again.

#12 is missing! He was last seen leaving a cavern all hugged up by a Steve Albano trap and with what appeared to be a man that was possibly impersonating a mole trapper. #12 had been pursued for almost 24 hours but had gone deep (6") underground to avoid detection. He was known to often frequent caverns late at night. It is believed that his possible captor was driving a Ranger with Tennessee plates.

#12 was clearly an accomplice and I hope he gets what's coming to him.

When it is really dry like it has been, I water the runs,( heavy) with a garden hose, just like a row of peas. It will bring the night crawlers in there which in turn will bring in the moles. Easier shown than told.
