first of all 1st rat, thanks for answering my questions.. i have a couple more..how long would you say it takes you to stretch, say a 60-65in beaver using the stapler?

the reason im trying to figure this out is because jerry catches and puts up alot of beaver in any given season and is always looking for ways to speed up the put up process.

also, do the staples regularly ever stick in the hide and tear it when youre removing the beaver from the boards?

I use a swivel beaver boarding table and can do a big beaver in 2.5 - 3 mins.

Stick yes but its not hard to remove them with small needle nose pliers. I can pop staples VERY fast.

I'll second what River rat says. The economy comes in the boarding, not the puulling. Personally, for me, beaver is the only critter I save alot of time on with staples. You will get a bit of tearing as the beaver pelt dries, occasionally, but it won't make any difference in the finished product. Even if the staples pull out while drying, the process is complete and you need not worry.

I pulled my first staples out of coons this evening. It took a little longer than pins, but that was due to the way I put them in. I learned a lot about where I need to put them tonight. Pulling is way easier than I thought it might be tho.

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote!

Thanks for all the replies on using the stapler on beaver hides. I'll be trying this in a couple weeks to see how it goes. I like the idea of a turn table also. Thanks.
