For many of us our season is nearing a close. I really only have Spring Beaver season to look forward to myself as most trapping is near over in MN. I am looking forward to next fall and am wondering this.

What are your goals for next year, and what effort do you plan on making to obtain them ?

Not going deer hunting except bow hunting before season this year so heres a couple goals. pretty dang sure i will be able to make them since i am putting my mind to trapping instead of rifle hunting.

So what will do you plan on doing to help obtain your goals.

Attend more demo's,read books and articles, work up the nerve to quiz more experienced trappers, buy more traps, obtain more permission or just plain work harder ?

I think you would all be surprised how much help more experienced trappers will offer if you ask. There are some talented Trappers that understand you are the future of the sport and would be proud to help you. Jim Blakely is a master with the Coon via the Lil Griz. Bogmaster knows Beaver & Muskrat and loves to help the kids. Maddog47 knows cats well in the snow country. Bunch of very experienced fur handlers as well.

My suggestion is to not be shy. Stick your hand out or send a polite PM. You may benefit greatly !! May even make a friend for life.

2poor i plan on working my whole summer to buy lil grizz so i can hit the big boar coon in the winter when they are worth they most and practice snaring more

I'm sure I'm gonna have to be better next year. This year was my first year, so I was very unexperienced. I hope to have more traps next year too.

this year i learned a TON from a trapper that lives a couple miles from me!im gonna work harder at trapping and put my mind to trapping instead of deer hunting. going to set out a longer line as well...like 30 traps for coons or something.

A very good attitude to have.The day we stop learning is the day we think we know it all.

We all have to start somewhere and to admit you're inexperienced says alot to me.I've noticed a few of the newer members posting alot and it's clear to me they have little experience.Yet are giving advice on things I'm pretty sure,know little about.

Don't be ashamed to ever ask for advice on something you have no experience with.That after all is one of the processes of learning.

My goal for next season is $80 worth of fur donated to the Tanned Fur Project using prices from the October 2009 forecast from T&PC... Maybe using those forecasts are cheating but it's what I did this past season and I barely met my goal of $60.

I intend to go to the rendezvous by hook or by crook... MCC ends the day that the rendezvous begins but I will see if I can get out a few days early. I would like to go there to get deals on supplies, see some great demos, vote for Wheelers, take my instructor's course to become an apprentice instructor, and of course, to see if I can get something better than LAST PLACE in the Sadie Hawkins race!!! LOL... Last year left me with a scar... I'm laughing stock, coming in 3 whole minutes behind everyone else! ROFL, 2poor, we have got to see if we can't get a bike in that race this year!

I plan on working on the land critters this year Last year i got one of every critter i tryed to trap lmao a couple of them i got 2 hahah.

So im looking at getting a Yote,Red and Grey fox, Bobcat, Marten, Fisher, And the only water critter i didnt get Otter.

I plan on scouting every day im off of work i have a few areas imma check out plus some fields that almost always have K9 tracks in it. So that all should work out good for me

I know a place where they get 20+ come outta it lol. Biggest i have heard of was a 34lber that was speared about 3 winters ago

Since it will be my second and final year of college and wont have much time again i will be happy with any trapping i plan to hit the rats a ocuple weekends and would be happy with 150 to 200 of them and than just some beaver trapping once i get out of college i hope to trap as hard as in the past.

I go to wadena technical college and am doing the two year electrical linesman course. So far i really enjoy it next year tho i will have more classes so i wont have as much free time.

I will be focusing on finishing up school and keeping up with chores this winter, which will be tough because I am also doing lots of odd jobs for neighbors and that won't really stop. I am also hunting deer, geese, and probably rabbits. Because I will be so busy I won't have as much time to trap as I would like, but I still will be trapping rats and probably snaring fox or yotes also. Might even break out the old rabbit snares and catch a few of them, they are fun too. And fun is my main goal this year, along with meat on the table. Ma said she wouldn't cook me muskrat
