You caught yourself a longtail female most likely! Nice catch for sure. Shortail females are much smaller than males usually, unless you catch a small young male. All my longtails in MI this year have been males. Great job. OT

I am thinking that is the case. They run the same territory I assume?

Yes, they can I have taken shortails and longtails in the same sets, but areas where I have taken longtails there have been fewer shortails in that area. They do overlap though and it also depends on how high the population is. Are you still trapping them? I pulled mine for the year, this warm weather screwed everything up. OT

Don't worry about it, weasel season is over her on Sunday and moving on to muskrat season.
Oh pins and tails, Dave Benwick says no problem, just don't poke the hide.since it is the most important in the leather grading.I reviewed the pics and saw it was holding the hair, and appoligise if I offended anyone.

Now how many on hear have got a Top Lot Award for Weasels from NAFA ?

Second question is who is going to guess the best price of weasels in this auction, prior to the auction.7 am Monday 23 Feb 2008?
Or should a new thread be started for this ?
Easterns are the longtailed weasels,xxl-xl Lot# 866921
westerns are shorttailed.xl-lge Lot # 866941

Not entirely done just experimenting with some ideas but have for the most part pulled up. I have out 6 boxes yet trying some ideas out. Yesterday was a stroke of luck an got 5 more out of them bringing my season total to 67.

I'm confused here did they change the title of this post or did a couple get put together?

Getting pretty yellow one was real yellow one was real white yet.

NAFA results in $ 8.00 for long tail easterns and $ 8.60 for Ermine.
Sure glad we get 25 % more at the end paycheck up in Canada.

Ummmm there are 28 pages here and on nearly every one there is some reference to bait. Not all mind you, but perhaps read the other pages. smile

There's 28 pages of information and pictures right here in this thread. Better than any how-to book.

Thanks for the huge wealth of wisdom on this thread to get me snagged on weasel trappin'!!!
Beaver meat,Asa's Weasel lure and a couple drops of anise.I did get one mouse and one snapped trap, but the hardware cloth wall kept the little bait stealers out.The wall also makes it easier on trap checks.I do not need to carry bait, just a few traps when the weather is real cold. The mouse got put to good use by being used as bait.

Hey, I was wondering does the pine wood for your boxes help with the trapping at all? I mean does the scent of it entice the ermine to enter or is it nothing to them?
