I was looking at a snare shop catalog and saw a single handle scraper. Ive been thinking about puting up my own fur. Would this be allright to start out with? It was a few dollars cheeper than the cheapest two handled one and I never catch too many critters at one time anyway. What say you?

I have used them and they worked ok, I've also just used a knife, if you have the fleshing beam and all then go with the double, but just go with what you can afford and are comfortable with, you can always switch when your ready. just my 2cents.

p.s. Never say never, just say so far. Have a good season.

To use a single handle sraper on a coon is a lot of work. It will be easier and faster to get a double handle draw knife. Lots of grissle to get off a coon.

Wags is right on the money. For coon and other large animals--use a 2 handled fleshing knife.
My single handled flesher is for rats and does a very good job on them.
Cheaper does not always save you money,if your time and effort is worth anything to you.
