Temps are in the low 30's at night but I am starting to get a good many calls on moles as we had a light rain and a few days of 60-70f plus and this really got the moles working on the surface....well, that and it's breeding season.
Anyone, (above the Mason-Dixon) doing a lot of mole work yet?

I actually have had traps in the ground since last November. Not a lot and of course, they were frozen in and snow covered at some point...still set though and actually did catch a few moles when we had some warm spells. wink

These were on a 6 day check however.

been doing mole jobs up the wazoo but most of the sign is from shrews... just saw the first fresh mole hill for the year 2 days ago. caught one yesterday and one this am. dont have alot of mole traps out. gophers been pushin up dirt on the south facing slopes but very slow coming around the traps. I got 50 of Steves' traps on the way and when they get here gopher trapping ought to be better. WE NEED HEAT!!!!

Here's a weird looking critter, this is a "Mideast Blind Mole Rat". A guy in Israel bought some of my traps and nailed this guy and 20 others just like him in his yard. It has teeth like a gopher, hands sort of like a mole, and is totally blind.

Bob, it's a rodent and a plant eater. Seems like it's pretty similar to a pocket gopher, though not closely related.

Steve, where did that thing come from?
Surely someone imported it, right?
I never heard of such a creature!

Best week this year : 93 moles

Sure somebody's topped that...where is Barkstone, by the way?

Thanks for the positive feedback dew and Bud. Glad the traps are working out good for you guys. Trap sales is about half my business right now, and it was only a promising hobby a year ago.
