I push the front legs inside using a small screwdriver. Trying to get them straight and taunt so they lay flat against the board. I really enjoy putting up Weasels !

2poor how you liking the logging now? Man what a mess this rain is causing. Raining in Feburary!!! Global warming. LOL

I am just starting to home tan about a dozen weasels. Figured it would be a nice father and son project with my 8 year old. Be interesting to see how they turn out.

Skunk the hole beside your box just as well could be mice. I find if they have a food source they will go under the snow and come up to feed and then go back under the snow. I have even caught them coming out before.

I don't know what happened to the number of pages seems to almost doubled here and on other threads as well.

I am hiding out avoiding the woods until the rain stops, and the cold weather rolls back in. . I have a bunch of timber to still skid.

Good day to peel more Weasels

I don't blame you 2poor. When it refreezes it's going to be rough ground. I bet your stumps already seem higher with the melting snow.

I peeled the last of mine yesterday. Got some sitting in salt now for tanning. Also threw in a mink and a rabbit I'm going to try to home tan. Figured since price was down it would be a good year to experiment with tanning.

Good luck.

While I have not tried it, I hear tell Weasels are easy to tan. Being thin skinned, there should be an advantage. Let us know how they turns out. Maybe pictures ?

My skidder trail and the road in to the landing are frozen deep. As long as we do not do anything foolish and cut ruts into it before it freezes it will be fine. Woods will be plenty ugly but heck the woods are almost always plenty rough.

A cold night and 3" of fresh snow would be a nice addition to the landing !

What works for me is a simple tool made from a coat hanger that works great for tucking in ermine and squirrel legs. Will post a picture when I can. It may be out at camp, but only takes minutes to make another.

You caught yourself a longtail female most likely! Nice catch for sure. Shortail females are much smaller than males usually, unless you catch a small young male. All my longtails in MI this year have been males. Great job. OT

My entrant for the Contest is on it's way to Judge Tom Olson. Nice big male I hope is at least a competitor.

I had to send in an extra for Grubstake, as he seems to of lost his ability this year. Hated to see the poor fella left out !

I am thinking that is the case. They run the same territory I assume?
