Hey guys, I'm looking for some help in catching coons using bucket sets. Up to this point in my life my traplines consist of mainly pocket and dirthole sets using footholds. I was picked to trap a big portion of farmland in my area but I have to use conibears. I have some bucket sets out but up till now I have only caught one coon in them. Ive also tried making pocket sets in some of the irrigation ditches with no success. I mainly trap the northern area of my state and this type of trapping is new to me and I would appreciate any assistance. The land consists mainly of fields with small woodlots in between them and irrigation ditches in some of the areas. Thanks and good luck trapping.

I am not an expert by any means but I have been experimenting this year. Peanut butter, honey, vegetable oil, fish oil, and a can of whole kernal corn. I have been mixing these things all together and slapping a bit of it in the back of the bucket and smearing a bit on the nearby trees. It is producing well for me. Also, throwing those 220's in front of the small dry culverts works great too!

Pans or wires? I bend my wires in a T shape half way up so a coon feels safe going over the top to get the bait. It fires against his chest. Catch most with one leg and head thru the trap. Be sure and stake the trap so it does not wobble or he may back away and leave.

Drill a hole thru the sides of the bucket in the back and put a piece of pvc pipe thru it with caps on the ends. Drill small holes in the pipe and use this to hold your bait. I have a lot of problems with mice eating my bait and this gets rid of this problem.
