Now I know why I have been a dirt trapper all these years!!! this water trapping is not easy at all. Could someone please show me proper trap placement for beavers with 330 conis, also with snares.......how high above water edge, how far back from shoreline. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Most of mine are similar to this as far as 330's go.

Dont let people tell ay you cant guide beaver either, lol This set was a one time thing though. I caught 3 beaver in three nights out of that goofy set. I like small logs for guiding like in the first pic.

Or in this pic.

I like my 330's about half submerged at least. I bend my triggers in a double upside down "L" shape. You can see that in the second pic. When bent like this they are underwater and out of sight. You can also completely submerge your 330s and use a divestick over the trap to.

There is another post by Indy Chris called -beaver question- about a page back. Check out the info. This set works well with conis, snares or regular traps.

KYBOYS sets are all good ways to use 330s. Only "improvement" I just added this year was metal 330 stands instead of sticks (how I used to do it for the past 30 years) These metal 330 stands are the way to go. SO EASY!!! I love them!!

I hang my conis with the triggers hanging down and spread in a big wide U. Got nailed one time when a safety slipped and I couldn't see it...when it was set like in KYs first picture. Either works...I'm just scared...LOL. 330 club has a tough initiation!!

Im looking to add the stands too TLC. Using sticks is getting old. Im gonna have to take some new 330 pics. Im almost ashamed to show that second castor mound . Thats the only way I could do it in that situation though, nothing else around to work with. LOL, hey the three beaver it picked up didnt seem to mind though. ;\)

Yes KYBoy...only took me 30 years to figure out stands would be better...LOL. They are awesome...so fast and easy. Almost takes the work out of beaver trapping. Only problem I have had using them is on solid rock bottoms...you can't stick them in. So...I took some heavy flat bar, welded it into an H, welded on some tubing the same size as the trap holder frame feet and now they are free standing. AWESOME!! It's just too easy!!

Here are some more 330 pics that show the use of divesticks if you have to have your 330's submerged. If they don't have to be submerged then I set them half out of the water like previously mentioned. Our early season requires total submersion though.

Hahaha. Those pictures are from the EARLY season in September. And I still might have a bit of ice and snow to deal with. The ponds in those pictures currently have about three feet of ice and five feet of snow on them. I rarely winter beaver trap. It is a LOT of work for the return.

If you are only dealing with a skim of ice, I would reccomend setting around the dam spillway where it will stay open longer. Same with any sort of creek flowing into it or whatever. Also, at that point run sets become more valuable. Once you have consistent ice castor mounds are a lot less useful.

Had to dig way back in my picture album...but, here's a picture of a double 330 setup with a dive stick. The 330 on the right is tough to see, but it's there.

This picture is from the beaver's view coming into a feedbed that is located in a cutout under a riverbank. The dive stick is just below the surface of the water. The current was fairly swift, so the beavers went under the dive stick....rather than over. Took 2 beavers out of this setup.

Trapped the same situation this season....only difference. 660s and coni holders sure make life easy!! Made up this over-under 660 holder for just such situations

Here's a 660 with a stand and a beaver.
