There was a couple tornados in my area and 95 mph winds that went though a camp ground on the big lake. It rolled campers and boats around. As far as I know I came through 100%. I got 1.25 rain. Garrison is 60 miles south of the house. WALL OF WIND: 7 miles east of Garrison from earlier this evening, as a 98 MPH gust was observed at an NDAWN station nearby. Thank you, Ethan Bender, for the photo. -Meteorologist Jacob Morse That is a spooky photo. Head for the basement when you see something like that coming.

Mtraps, thank you for your thoughtful reminder. Yes I did do that as soon as I layered the lumber, complete with stickers for circulation. I appreciate your good advice. Walnut is amazing wood grain too. I think of shotgun stocks.
Wy.wolfer, this is good marten country, also wolverine. The wilderness area that encompasses the big mountains here sees little human traffic. Since some big wind storms the past several months, and numerous washouts from streams , and tree blowdowns, it sees even less . The few folks who do hike on trails report impassable areas that will take time until they can be cleared and repaired. Meantime, all kinds of fur bearers inhabit the whole area. Including bighorn and mtn. goats.
There are also plenty of turkeys , groups of them routinely travel through my place. They have their little ones now.
Boco, Nessy, yes a sauna would be perfect. I do have a nice cedar chest but I wouldn't mind another one !
And yes Nessy, pahfect for sourdough bread and any other cooking ! Its cool and rainy now so cooking is my fun time . Along with wintah.
FVWC, you nailed it ! One of the best movies ever made, to me.

I talked to Kurt this morning and the stabilizer is being made and shipped as soon as they're made. He is currently working on two new sizes one for 330/280 size and one for 110 size---The 110 size will have a weaker spring to lessen the tension on the trigger which has some trappers concerned with the current model putting more tension on the trigger and missing some animals(mink). He will be testing a body grip trap this fall for marten/fisher, I hope to have a few to play with too!
Its a good time to be a trapper! Good news! The Beav has the solution to weakening the spring on the current model.

Growing up Dad and I sold in the round every other evening to Dutch I didn't learn to skin until I got out of the military. But I still sold them grease I really learned fur put up about 15 years ago, and it's equal in enjoyment to catching fur I don't really like doing the bare minimum on fur put up, which is what I call fur market put up The best thing I ever did to improve my put ups was home tan some of my fur. It showed me where I could improve on my fleshing.
I'll admit it, I'm addicted to fur. I love the look of it, the feel of it the planning on how to catch it

I guess I missed this latest boom. Is it a secret? How many coon to fill the tank?
When I HAD to process all fur daily, I did not enjoy it MUCH. Later when I had better facility with freezers, I enjoyed it A LOT. The former was cause for the latter. To sell unprocessed was considered lazy in my family. If you killed it, you respected it.
Several guys that bought from guys that did not process, made a LOT of money left on the table by those that were too busy.
A friend hired out his processing. I scratched my head until realizing, he could afford to, and liked to trap.
To each their own.

Hey Bob, I read where the National Weather Service out of Pittsburgh confirmed the tornado that went through your property on the 6th as an EF1. That was the third tornado confirmed in PA on that day.
I was curious about the process. Did anybody from the NWS talked to you or take pics of the area or anything?
